The Starting Point

Seventeen WhatsApp photos. That was it. Compressed, low-resolution images of tractors, brush cutters, and crew members shot on phones in bright Mpumalanga sunlight. Kalemao (Pty) Ltd, a Level 1 B-BBEE company with an R5.57M+ verified track record across Eskom and SANRAL projects, was submitting tenders with images that undermined every word in their capability statements. The brief from director Tshepiso M was simple: "U can play with words u know."

Eight magazine-grade hero shots of tractors and equipment. Eleven cinematic golden hour compositions with the John Deere 3140 silhouetted against Mpumalanga sunsets. Seven studio-quality fleet showcases. Five before/after transformation comparisons showing grass cutting results. Five drone-perspective aerial views. Three panoramic banners for profile headers.

The client rejected "horticulture" as too technical. "Landscaping (Greening)" was chosen to elevate positioning beyond just "grass cutting" - language that works for both residential clients and municipal tenders.
